International Organizations as Global Data Governors

  • World Bank 1818 H Street Washington DC (map)

The World Bank’s Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week 2019 focused on the overarching theme of Rights, Technology and Development to discuss the intersection of human rights and technologies, to explore the legal response to the impact on development challenges posed by disruptive technologies, to examine how technology in fragile contexts affects development outcomes with a focus on vulnerable groups, to observe the legal and ethical implications of new technologies and economic development, to analyze the impact of technology on the practice of law, and to study ways to incorporate technology into the administration of justice.

GGLT Director for Policy & Practice Angelina Fisher, who coordinated the panel, and GGLT Executive Director Thomas Streinz joined World Bank Lead Counsel David Satola to discuss the role of International Organizations as Global Data Governors. Several NYU law students who participated in the International Organizations Clinic also attended the panel.
